Everything you need to know before your trip.

We keep things simple and transparent. Our goal is to make your trip easy — so here’s how everything works.

Booking & Rental Period

Reserving your gear

All bookings are made online and confirmed once payment is completed. You’ll receive an email confirmation with your rental and delivery details.

Rental duration

Rentals can be booked from 1 day to a month.

Weekend bookings typically run Friday to Sunday (2 nights).

Availability

Availability is shown in real time on our booking calendar. In the rare case an item becomes unavailable, we’ll provide a comparable or upgraded replacement.

Delivery, Return & Pickup

Delivery area

We deliver across Toronto & the GTA, including Toronto, North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton, and Oakville.

Delivery details
  • Camping bundles → free delivery
  • Individual items → delivery fees apply and are shown at checkout
  • 2-hour delivery windows are scheduled to ensure a smooth, reliable drop-off
Return to us

Gear can be returned to our Little Italy location in Toronto.

The exact address and return instructions will be shared in your confirmation email.

Pickup after your trip

Want to skip the return? Add pickup at checkout for $30 — we’ll come to you within a scheduled 2-hour window and take care of the return.

Unexpected delays

Delays may occasionally occur due to traffic, weather, or other factors beyond our control. We’ll always communicate and work to minimize any disruption to your trip.

Cancellations, Changes & Weather

Cancellation policy
  • 72+ hours before rental start → full refund
  • Within 72 hours → credit issued for a future rental
Changes to your booking

Need to adjust dates or swap items? We’re happy to change your booking based on availability.

No-shows

Missed deliveries or unresponsive customers will be treated as a completed rental.

Weather & outdoor conditions

Trips go ahead rain or shine — changing conditions are all part of what makes being outdoors memorable. If severe or unsafe conditions arise, we will assess the situation and determine a fair outcome.

Security Deposit

Deposit requirement

A refundable security deposit is required on all rentals. The amount will be clearly shown at checkout.

Why we hold a deposit

Our gear is carefully maintained and shared between customers. The deposit helps protect our gear and our customers, ensuring everything is returned in great condition and ready for the next trip.

What it may be used for
  • Damaged gear beyond normal wear
  • Lost or missing items
  • Excessive cleaning required
  • Late returns that impact other bookings
Return of deposit

Once your gear is returned and checked, your deposit will be released within 2–3 days.

If anything needs to be deducted, we’ll always communicate clearly and fairly.

Gear Care & Responsibility

Taking care of the gear

We simply ask that you treat the equipment with the same level of care you would your own.

A bit of attention goes a long way — things like packing gear properly, wiping down dirt and debris, keeping it dry where possible, and storing it securely during your trip. From the time your rental begins until it’s returned, the gear is your responsibility.

Damage & loss
  • Normal wear from a typical trip → absolutely fine
  • Damage, loss, or theft → repair or replacement costs may apply
A few common-sense guidelines
  • Avoid storing gear wet for extended periods
  • Keep items secure when not in use
  • Use equipment in appropriate conditions
Use of equipment
  • Gear is provided for personal use only and may not be sub-rented, loaned, or used for commercial purposes without prior approval.

Cleaning & Return Condition

Our standard

Every item is inspected, cleaned and dried between rentals.

Sleeping bags & soft goods

Inspected and professionally cleaned after each use — always fresh and ready.

Return condition

Gear should be returned:

  • Reasonably clean
  • Dry (especially tents and sleeping gear)
  • Free of excessive dirt, sand, or debris

Additional cleaning fees may apply if gear is returned in poor condition.

Late Returns

Timing matters

Our bookings often run back-to-back, so timely returns are important.

Late return fees

Late returns may result in additional charges, especially if they impact another customer’s booking.

Communication

If you’re running late, just let us know — we’ll always try to work with you.

What’s Included

Ready-to-go gear

All gear is complete and trip-ready — tents come with pegs and full setups, while lanterns and headlamps are provided with fully charged batteries.

Reporting issues

Any missing, damaged, or non-functioning items must be reported at the start of your rental.

Liability & Assumption of Risk

Outdoor activities

Camping and outdoor travel naturally come with risks — including changing weather, uneven terrain, wildlife, and the use of equipment in remote environments.

Your responsibility

We ask that all customers take reasonable steps to ensure their own safety and the safety of others during their trip. This includes:

  • Using equipment correctly
  • Following local park and campsite regulations
  • Using stoves and fuel safely and where permitted

By renting from Tent to Trail, you acknowledge these risks and accept responsibility for your use of the equipment.

Tent to Trail is not liable for injury, loss, or damage resulting from the use of rental gear.

Substitutions & Equipment Issues

Substitutions

If an item becomes unavailable, we may provide a comparable or upgraded replacement at no extra cost.

Equipment performance

While all gear is checked before rental, outdoor conditions can vary. If you experience any issues, contact us and we’ll do our best to assist.

Refusal of Service

To protect our customers and equipment, we may refuse or cancel a rental where safety, proper use, or adherence to our terms is a concern.
